On/Off

I get home today and as I am getting out of the car, my mother-in-law pulls up in the driveway. She picks my daughter up from preschool and usually gets home before me, but today we got home at the same time. The preschool always sends a report home about what she did for the day and and an overall summary of her activities.  Today the teacher pulled my mother-in-law aside and commented that she was have trouble listening today, which is a little abnormal; she is only three after all. So the teacher continues to say, “her listening ears were not on today…”. My mother-in-law brings her home and on the way ask why she did not have her listening ears on? Her reply…”Turned them off!”
