DS Lite PWNS!

I made a deal with my daughter back in March/April of last year that if she improved her grades, she would get a Nintendo DS. Really bright kid…just hates school and is sooo lazy. So as a motivation, promised to buy her the DS. Well, I knew that the DS lite was going to be released around the time school was out this past summer. Well she ended up with a 3.0 (all B’s and a C+). So had to open the ole wallet…and low and behold…walked out of there with two of them. After all, she needed someone to “challenge” over their network.

The Nintendo DS Lite is slimmer and much sleeker that the original DS. Dual-screen and microphone-enabled gameplay as well as Wi-Fi multiplayer capabilities, and backward-compatible with almost every GBA title, which is a big plus since we both have all the version of the Nintendo portables, all the way back to the original.

“Following the horrific incident in 2004 in which four dim-witted individuals perpetrated a home invasion and mass murder in order to “reclaim” their repo’ed Xbox, comes another tale of disputed console ownership leading to tragic consequences. A 20-year-old Seattle man returned to his former residence on Thursday in an attempt to take possession of an Xbox that he had supposedly purchased, and in a classic example of “if I can’t play with this toy then no one can,” tossed the ‘Box right through a window and into the front yard. Not content with destroying what may have been his own property, the young man returned later that night and set fire to home’s back porch, and although no injuries were reported, the structure was apparently completely gutted. Making the suspect even more eligible for the “Stupid Criminals’ Hall of Fame” was the fact that he called the house from a payphone (while it was still burning, presumably) to brag of his crime and make additional threats. The lesson here: videogames may or may not incite folks to violence, but fighting over them sure does.” – www.engadget.com

WTF?!?!?!?!? My faith in the human race just soared….*sigh*.

XBox 360 Blues…

I am desperate to get my hands on an XBox 360. I wanted so bad to hate Micro$oft’s 360 after hearing how buggy the system was when it initially came out. The expectations were that Micro$oft was making much ado about nothing…as when the initially released the XBox. Part of my doubts stem from being an ex-M$ user and knowing what to expect from an M$ product, not to mention that I absolutely love my Playstation 2. Well…after months of reading articles and having heard first hand how cool the system is (games, online content, friends list, and etc.)…must…have…XBOX!

PS3 News…about time….

Sony announced that the official release for PS3 is going to be in November 2006…worldwide!

I am so excited, especially since I was not able to invest in the Xbox 360 (not yet that is —> wife said “no” since I have bought 2 Macs; Powerbook and Intel iMac, in less than a year).

Anyway, besides the features that were expected, such as the Blu-ray and a 60GB hard drive, I was glad to read that they would continue to offer online services…similar to what XBox live offers. Since I do not have XB live, I am not sure what too expect…but according to various forums and my buddy MacDork, XB live is a really cool feature.

Since I have a PS2 with the network adapter, I am and have been happy with their online services and glad to hear that with the PS3, basic service will remain free…at least for now.

Well, looks like I’m getting me a PS3 and off to find a any place that will take reserves.

What’s that? What will wifey say? Not sure…not listening. >:)

Werd! Like many other blogs, this is an insight and perspective into my day-to-day life…the highs, the lows, the triumphs, the defeats, my opinions, fatherhood, parenthood and blah, blah, blah (started to rant and bore myself).
